I've been writing every day, except weekends, since January 1. Tonight I had no idea what to write about. I was thinking about my day and that I spoke with my grandma about an upcoming project she and I will be working on together. It's the project of all projects. The one that I've been wanting to do my whole life but even more so now that I have the perfect materials. We are going to be reupholstering a couch! Actually, a mid century 3 piece sectional to be exact. And I'm praying- PRAYING- that I can salvage that dope fabric that is covering it at the moment, and add it to some other chairs I'll be reupholstering. I'm so excited. For my entire life, I've seen this lady upholster couches, chairs, make shams and quilts, all for fun. And now, I get to do the same thing with her. The only issue I see is how protective I may be after it's all said and done. I'm not going to want people sitting on it. I finally understand why people are like that. I'm just going to make sure I have backups or zippers on everything so I don't kick people off my couch. That doesn't seem very welcoming.
Back when we first bought out house, I think we were in contract, I came across this couch on Craigslist for free. FREE, people! It cost us about $75 after renting a van but it was so so cool. It needed a good cleaning and now, it needs some adjusting with the springs but Lord, it's beautiful. Really, the couch of my dreams. Probably the couch of your dreams too. We have been meaning to save money for the fabric but as you can understand, this isn't something I can just do. I mean, we had to be able to buy everything. From tacks to staples, muslin fabric, upholstery fabric and then some stuffing/batting to wrap the couch again. I knew if I just could find the right fabric, I could order it and then the rest would fall in to place. I had hoped to have it done over winter break but it was a busy time of year and certainly not the right time to take on such a crazy project. Everything is settled down now, we have the pattern we like and for Christmas we were given some Ebay giftcards. That was the big push we needed to get this show on the road. I looked up the fabric I've been watching to see when it would go on sale and lo and behold, there it was. Super duper cheap if you bought more yards and I used a rebate thing and there is was. I ordered 9 yards for our couch. Paid about $27 out of pocked. I still need to buy the batting but that is reasonable and I need to go with my grandma to do that.

I'm really looking forward to working on this project. I'll be posting along the way so you can see some progress. Above is the pattern I'll be using. Yes, it's tacky. Yes, it's full of plants. Yes, I paid money for it. I'm in love with this pattern and if I play my cards right, I'll have the inverse pink version for the other chairs in the living room. Also, I may have a dream of just reupholstering all the stuff in my home. Quite like a certain grandma I know. It just means so much to me to finally feel like I'm in a place where time can be spent doing things I love with people I love. My grandma is going to be 80 this year. I love her so much and want to spend all the time I can spend with her. Soak up some good artistic, quality time together. Anyway, that's all I really wanted to talk about. It's just a piece of art in the making. Thank God for ebay gift cards of this post may have been months out.

Also, I just got an email that a label was created and it's shipping. How exciting. I'll need to have my batting here ASAP and be ready to start as early as next week. Or as soon as my grandma, who has a cold, is well. I'm stoked!
