Peke's Pozole but mostly this is about that Taco

Wow Peke’s Pozole. They're located at 4710 South Pulaski in Chicago, Illinois, right in the heart of Archer Heights. This is their newer location, which is a very beautiful upgrade from the last location, which was a few doors from here. It took us a few minutes to be seated, but when we were, the chips and salsa were immediately on the table.

First, I started with the Horchata and yes, it was a large. Also, a flight of Pozole which includes red, white and green. I'm a firm believer that if it's on the menu, it should be good so I ordered a taco as well. Thankfully for me, their Carne Asada tacos are some of my favorites in Chicago. It's crispy, greasy, salty, fabulous, it's just so solid. Perfectly seasoned. From the flight, the first thing I tried was a White pozole. I was so surprised at how flavorful and good it was. It's savory and delicious, even without any spice. Next, I tried the red pozole, which surprisingly was my favorite. It's got a great kick and flavor-wise, it's fantastic. The only thing I didn't like is that the temperature was a little bit off and it was running on lukewarm here. And the next thing I tried was my usual go-to, which is a Green Pozole, which is fantastic and has a delicious kick, and it's just so good.

Flavor-wise, everything here was amazing. My husband enjoyed his burrito and while I would've liked more napkins on the table, piping hot soup all around, everything was delicious and clean. A few things worth mentioning, the margarita is fantastic. I had this during another visit with a friend, I think it’s a great balance in a drink. The next thing is, I was not a fan of the Torta. The meat to Talera ratios were off. One of my favorite things is that there is a lift for people in wheelchairs which I LOVE! This is so appreciated and very inclusive. The bathroom is up a few stairs so this lift being in place is excellent. I am really impressed by this. The ambiance is great, easy to chat with friends. Seating is limited but there's not usually much of a wait for a smaller crowd. Oh, and one thing I’ve noticed since I’ve been here a lot over the years, there seems to be no rush with the waitstaff. Sometimes this is great because you don’t have people interrupting your conversations but more times than I’d like, I’m waiting on things like napkins or our bill (for 30 minutes which was rough because my husband was on a tight schedule) but mostly I think it’s just slower paced here. Aside from the smallest of things that they can improve on, I highly recommend Peke’s. There is street parking available, although it is Pulaski and it's a pretty busy street and there isn't always parking available up in front.
