Five Feet Apart Movie Review

ree

About The Movie: PREMEIRES: March 15, 2019 Stella Grant (Haley Lu Richardson) is every bit a seventeen-year-old… she’s attached to her laptop and loves her best friends. But unlike most teenagers, she spends much of her time living in a hospital as a cystic fibrosis patient. Her life is full of routines, boundaries and self-control – all of which is put to the test when she meets an impossibly charming fellow patient named Will Newman (Cole Sprouse).

There’s an instant flirtation, though restrictions dictate that they must maintain a safe distance between them. As their connection intensifies, so does the temptation to throw the rules out the window and embrace that attraction. Further complicating matters is Will’s potentially dangerous rebellion against his ongoing medical treatment. Stella gradually inspires Will to live life to the fullest, but can she ultimately save the person she loves when even a single touch is off limits?

My review: I saw this movie with my aunt. I enlisted her company since I knew this was going to be a fluffier film and my husband would likely not be interested. The characters are sweet and the movie has a lot of heart. There are some good conflicts and resolutions that wrap up nicely as well. I will say as I've been saying all over social media, TAKE TISSUE! It's totally geared toward teens but we (34 and 40+) enjoyed it. The characters had a free perspective on life and some innocence that is absolutely recognizable if you've been a teenager in America. There is also a lot I learned about cystic fibrosis and still so much I would like to learn. It is a horrible health issue and they do an excellent job in the film, showcasing what it's like to live with CF. Overall it is a good movie and would be great to see with good friends, siblings or as a nice mom and daughter date.
