Easter and a giveaway

I'm not particularly pushy and you can skip this portion and just enter the Giveaway for the $100 Target gift card but I thought I might share some of my faith and why Easter is such a big deal for me. I just can't get over the love the Lord has for us that he would sacrifice someone so pure. For me. And for you. To me, Easter is a very special time of year. I make little baskets for my kids and younger sister, I set out to do everything on Pinterest and accomplish maybe one thing. We dye eggs, do Cascarones (which I'll explain more about in a future post), I buy my half-assed lamb cake from Jewel and of course, church. I still remember the first Easter I had as a Christian. I was attending a service at Rise Above in San Antonio, TX and a roommate of mine had made these beautiful Easter egg decorations with her mom. She also baked a bunch of cookies and was raising money for a mission trip. I helped with that and had a plan to sell my aprons but just kind of wanted to take a step back from working and really focus on the Lord. What a marvelous thing He did for us. Sparing us a harsh and deserved death so we might be saved through His son Jesus Christ. My kids have an idea of what the Resurrection is but I'm not sure that they really understand yet. I hope they come to understand just how heavy it is. How loved we are. How real He is. I think about my first son, my sweet boy, oh how I'd move hell and highwater to save him and how the Lord loved us so much that He allowed Jesus, His one and only son, righteous and pure to be an atoning sacrifice for OUR sin. He rose from the dead. And then, just like that, it was all over. He defeated death. And if we repent of our sins and believe that He is the son of God and who rose from the dead, we shall have ever lasting life.
I am part of the events committee at church. I plan out events like Easter and kind of just arrange things for the church. I have lots of opportunities to make things awesome and take great pride in finding a deal which is intentional with being a good steward. I used to be a big couponer and I miss the hunt and the euphoric feeling of finding the item I need and paying next to nothing. But because I've had 2 kids in 2 years, I can't really keep up with everything, every day. The one thing that keeps me connected to the coupon community is Seasonal sales. I make sure I catch the big end of season sales like Christmas, Back to School and Easter. Sometimes I'll hit Halloween and sometimes Valentines day but I've got a pretty great stash for goodie bags and it's not really a big deal for me to fill them with every single item I can find. Last year I stocked up plenty and will be able to fill baskets for my kids and sister without spending money this year. I'm pretty sure I have enough to last me a few Easters but it is nice to add a little candy, which I will likely have to coupon or just break down and pay full price.
